About Me
My name is Alex Pinkston — a passionate and driven tennis coach currently competing as an NCAA Division I athlete at Lipscomb University while pursuing a B.S. in Psychology. With years of hands-on coaching experience at nationally recognized programs like the USTA National Campus and Brookhaven Country Club, I bring a deep commitment to player development across all ages and skill levels. My coaching philosophy combines technical instruction, mental resilience, and healthy training habits to help athletes unlock their full potential both on and off the court.
Certified by both the USTA safe play, officiating and the Professional Tennis Registry (Level 2), I’ve worked extensively with Early Childhood, Junior Development, Academy Prep, and High-Performance players, tailoring sessions to individual needs through positive reinforcement, strategic planning, and mentorship. My background in psychology complements my coaching, allowing me to build meaningful, productive relationships with athletes and foster a growth-oriented environment.
Whether it’s guiding a beginner through their first rally or helping a competitive player sharpen their game, I’m all about inspiring confidence, discipline, and love for the sport.

What my lessons are like
**Lesson Details – What to Expect** Every lesson is designed to be engaging, structured, and tailored to the player’s individual goals and experience level. Whether you're picking up a racket for the first time or preparing for high-level competition, here's what you can expect: * **Customized Instruction:** Lessons are adapted to fit your current level—beginner, intermediate, or advanced—focusing on technique, footwork, strategy, and match play. * **High-Energy Sessions:** Expect a positive, motivating environment with active drills that keep you moving and engaged throughout the session. * **Goal-Oriented Development:** Each lesson builds on the last, with clear objectives that align with your short- and long-term tennis goals. * **Mental Skills Training:** Drawing from my psychology background and work with performance specialists, I integrate mental toughness, focus, and confidence-building strategies into sessions. * **Feedback & Progress Tracking:** I provide constructive, personalized feedback after each session to highlight growth areas and reinforce improvements. * **Fitness & Injury Prevention:** Stretching, agility drills, and proper technique are prioritized to build strength safely and reduce risk of injury. Lessons can be scheduled as private sessions, semi-private, or small groups, and I work with all ages and commitment levels—from recreational players to serious competitors. ---
