About Me
With over 30 years of experience in the tennis industry, I’ve dedicated my life to helping players of all ages and levels reach their full potential. I’ve coached on the WTA Tour, worked with multiple world No. 1 players, and served as an Olympic coach for both Team USA and Team South Africa. As the Director of Adult Tennis and Head Pro at Roosevelt Island Racquet Club, I oversee programming, staff development, and player experience, blending high-level strategy with day-to-day on-court energy.
My coaching philosophy is rooted in making the game both accessible and competitive, balancing technical fundamentals with tactical awareness and mental resilience. Whether guiding a beginner’s first steps or refining an elite player’s game, I believe in fostering a positive environment that promotes growth, enjoyment, and lifelong passion for tennis. I got into pickleball coaching after noticing how quickly the sport was growing and how many tennis players, both new and experienced, were making the transition. With my background in tennis instruction, it felt like a natural fit. I started by learning the unique strategies and mechanics of the game, then began teaching small clinics—focusing on helping players understand positioning, shot selection, and how to build points effectively. From there, my passion for coaching pickleball really took off.

What my lessons are like
My pickleball lessons are energetic, engaging, and tailored to the skill level of each player. I focus on building strong fundamentals—footwork, paddle control, and court positioning—while also introducing strategy through live-ball drills and point play. Whether it's a beginner learning the basics or an advanced player refining their shot selection and transitions, I make sure every session is fun, competitive, and full of useful takeaways. I keep the tempo high, give constant feedback, and create a team atmosphere that keeps players motivated and coming back.
How to prepare
I prepare for my lessons by first reviewing the skill levels and goals of each player or group. I plan progressions that build from basic movement and technique to live play and strategy, making sure each drill has a clear purpose. I also bring a variety of targets, cones, and training aids to keep things fresh and focused. Before each session, I walk through the court layout in my head, think through possible adjustments based on weather, court conditions, or group dynamics, and always have a few backup drills ready in case we need to shift gears. Being over-prepared lets me stay flexible and focused on giving players the best experience possible.
