About Me

Hi, I’m Francisco — a former top junior in Portugal and a passionate tennis coach with years of international experience. I’ve played at the collegiate and professional levels, reaching a UTR of 13.2, and I bring that competitive insight into every session I lead.

My coaching style is all about building confidence and making real progress, whether you're chasing tournament wins or picking up a racket for the first time. I’ve trained with and coached alongside some of the best in the sport, and I’m always focused on helping players enjoy the game while reaching their full potential.

I’ve coached players of all ages across Portugal, Austria, and the U.S., including time as a hitting coach at Evert Tennis Academy, where I worked with top professionals like Coco Gauff, Sofia Kenin, and Viktoria Azarenka.

From running my own clinics to traveling as a private coach for nationally ranked juniors, I’ve developed a strong sense of what players need — technically, physically, and mentally — to improve. I’ve also coached at the college level, captained my team, and earned certifications through PTR, USPTA, MTM, and iTPA.

I work with:

  • Competitive juniors preparing for tournaments or college tennis
  • Adults looking to refine their technique, improve consistency, or stay active
  • Beginners who want to start strong with a solid foundation
  • Tournament players in need of match prep, analysis, or travel coaching

What my lessons are like

I’m a technician at heart, and my coaching reflects that. While many lessons focus on cardio or just hitting balls, I zero in on the technical side of the game. From the first lesson, I break down each player’s strokes to build a clean, efficient foundation that holds up under pressure. Footwork patterns, racket path, contact point, timing — every detail matters, and I coach with the mindset that great technique leads to great results. Whether it's rebuilding a serve or fine-tuning a backhand, I make sure every rep has purpose. This approach helps players of all levels: beginners build rock-solid fundamentals, and advanced players unlock consistency and power they didn’t know they had. I also use video when needed to help players see what I see — speeding up progress and assisting changes to stick. If you want to understand your game and not just play it, you'll thrive with this type of training.

How to prepare

Show up a little early (10–15 minutes) to stretch and get your mind ready. Bring water, a towel, and your racket — and make sure you’re wearing proper tennis shoes. Let me know if there’s something you want to work on. I’ll always have a plan, but I love hearing what matters most to you. Stay hydrated and eat something light before you come. Energy and focus make a big difference. Be ready to learn and make adjustments. We’ll work hard, have fun, and improve together.
