Road to 4.0The Academy of Pickleball: The Road to 4.0 Series
This is a progressive 6-week training series developed by The Academy of Pickleball Training. This program is designed for dedicated intermediate players (3.25+) who feel they have plateaued and are serious about taking their game to the next level.
*Each session is 3 hours (2 hours of instruction and 1 hour of game play).
Week 1 — Drops (Third & Fifth Shot)
Build the soft game foundation. We warm up with cooperative dinks and drops, then play controlled points that start with a third-shot drop.
Week 2 — Dinking
Own the kitchen with patience and precision. Expect directional control, spacing awareness, and decision cues for when to change pace.
Week 3 — Transition Zone & Resets
Close the gap to the NVZ under control. You’ll practice absorbing pace and turning defense into neutral—then into offense.
Week 4 — Serve & Return
Win points before the rally starts. We emphasize legal serve variety, deep returns, and building the first four balls with intention.
Week 5 — Drives & Topspin
Attack with discipline. Learn when to green-light the drive, how to roll-volley counters, and when to re-neutralize.
Week 6 — Mini Tournament (Match Play & Mental Game)
Put it all together in coached match play. Expect seeding games, a mini bracket, and feedback on decision-making, patterns, and positioning.
